Measure your mattress

Four steps to a reliable fit

Use a firm tape measure and record the dimensions without compressing the mattress, topper, pad, or other comfort layers.

Step one

Measure the width

Measure straight across the mattress from the widest left edge to the widest right edge.

Step two

Measure the length

Measure from the top edge near the headboard to the bottom edge at the foot of the mattress.

Step three

Measure the depth

Measure from the mattress base to the highest point, including any topper or permanent comfort layer.

Step four

Allow for the fit

Choose fitted sheets and protectors with enough pocket depth to wrap securely beneath the mattress.

How do I choose fitted-sheet pocket depth?

Measure from the base of the mattress to its highest point, including any topper or permanent pad. Choose a fitted sheet with enough pocket depth to wrap beneath the mattress securely.

Does a mattress topper affect sheet size?

Yes. A topper increases the total mattress depth and may require deep-pocket or extra-deep fitted sheets, protectors, and encasements.

How should a comforter fit the mattress?

Comforter coverage depends on mattress width, depth, bed height, and your preferred side drop. Compare product dimensions with the full width and depth of your sleep surface.

What is the difference between King and California King?

A standard King is wider at approximately 76 x 80 inches. A California King is narrower and longer at approximately 72 x 84 inches.

Can Queen sheets fit a Full mattress?

Queen fitted sheets are generally too wide and long for a Full mattress and may bunch or shift. Select the fitted-sheet size that matches the mattress dimensions.

Can Twin sheets fit a Twin XL mattress?

Twin XL mattresses are approximately five inches longer than standard Twin mattresses. A standard Twin fitted sheet may not provide enough length for a secure fit.

What should I do when measurements fall between sizes?

Recheck the measurements and compare them with the exact product dimensions. Prioritize a secure fitted-sheet pocket and sufficient comforter coverage rather than relying only on the size name.
